Nanny GPS: IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Please be aware of fraudsters and scammers
While most people on Nanny GPS are genuine, not everyone on the Internet is who they say they are. Always trust your instincts and do not give your personal contact details until you are sure the person you are communicating with is legitimate. Always use the internal messaging system until you are sure the person is real. Profiles are not pre-screened.
Another general rule is to never ever give money to people you don't know or trust as unfortunately there are many scams on the Internet targeted at families and nanny au pairs.
Please keep in mind that we can not investigate the comments about the individuals here and they don't represent the views of Nanny GPS. These e-mails are warnings from other members who have dealt with the individuals in question.
DO NOT WIRE MONEY to any travel agency or anyone you do not know, especially to CAMEROON and NIGERIA.
There are several scammers from these countries trying to defraud people over the Internet using fraudulent checks and Western Union.
Scammers posing as a family offer a high salary to make the job look attractive. They eventually ask for money directly or involve a bogus travel agency to get money claiming that it is needed for the ticket, visa and paperwork.
Au Pairs and Nannies use scams asking for money for travel or visas and paperwork, sometimes directly to themselves or using a bogus travel agency.
Do not provide anyone any sensitive information about yourself such as your bank account number, your passport number or photocopy of your passport, and your social security number. Please use commonsense and caution if you have any suspicion about a user on Nanny GPS and report it to us immediately.

Be cautious if the offer of the family or the au pair nanny is too good to be true !
- Please inform yourself about the average salary paid for nannies or pocket money for au pairs in each country.
- If a family offers you more than the average salary in that country or a monthly salary PLUS weekly pocket money, then please be very cautious. It is likely to be a scam.
Please do not set up a bank account for someone you don't know !
Be suspicious if you are contacted through Facebook or other social networks
Nanny GPS does not provide any contact details to anyone, in fact we don't even collect your contact details on registration. Therefore, be very careful if someone contacts you through Facebook or social networks claiming to have your contact details from Nanny GPS. It's not possible. These people are scammers.
Nanny GPS will never send you an e-mail asking you to transfer money to anyone.
We will NEVER send you an e-mail asking you to transfer any money to anyone from Nanny GPS, or for any members on the Nanny GPS website. If you receive such an e-mail, please be aware that this is SCAM.
If you have any doubts about any members on Nanny GPS please report it to us at Contact Us (Please provide a reference number), or mark as Phishing Scam from your shortlist.
Our policy for managing Spammers
- We will investigate reported spammers from our members. Report potential spammers either through the Contact Us (Please provide a reference number), or mark as Phishing Scam from your shortlist.
- If we find the profile in question is a spammer, we will mark their profile as "scam" so members who have already started to communicate with them outside of Nanny GPS will know they are not genuine - simply delete them from your shortlist.
- We will remove them from the Nanny GPS website to prevent them from communicating with new members.
